his estate was restored to him in 1563, knighted by the Earl of Sussex <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/ThomasRadcliffe(3ESussex).htm> in 1570, being with that general, in the expedition that year into Scotland, to aid King James VI, against the Hamilton Faction. Sir Robert sold the monastery and manor of Nuneaton in 1564 to Sir Ambrose Cave. He committed bigamy having married again during his first wife's lifetime, Heraldic Visitation 1564.

Robert next married Dorothy Widdrington [58043] [MRIN: 551615646], daughter of John Widdrington [46139] and Agnes Metcalffe [46140], about 1550. (Dorothy Widdrington [58043] was born in 1523 and died on 23 Sep 1583.)
