in 1582 Gerald's estates were placed under sequestration and father and son were imprisoned in the tower of London and released in Jun 1583. Henry succeeded his father to the title and became 12th Earl of Kildare. He was probably related to the well known Fitzgerald family, the knights of Glin. Queen Elizabeth <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/aboutElizabeth.htm> desired the lord deputy to exchange some of the crown lands with Henry, Earl of Kildare

Kildare/Baroness Cobham [39875] was buried on 11 Jul 1628 in Westminster Abbey.)
