His first wife, Hazel, and three children were killed in an automobile accident April 28,1929. He then married Edna M. Stowe, Oct 24, 1931, in Elkhart. She survives with one daughter, Mrs Dewain (Ruby) Filley, Dowagiac; a stepson, Robert B. Stowe, Elkhart; six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Anna Messenger, Jackson, Mich. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home where services will be 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Thomas C. Kuhn, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery. Mr. Mabie retired Jan 8, 1954, from the New York Central Railroad where he was employed as a freight conductor for 37 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Legion of the Moose, and the Fellowship of the Moose. The Moose Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home
