General Notes:
After moving to OH, where his 2 daughters from Nancy Bretz died and were buried near Clyde, OH, Abraham married Elizabeth Beehler of Germany. All nine of the children from the second marriage were born in PA. Then they came to IN and settled in Portage Twp, St Joseph County, which is SW of South Bend. Abraham was buried in Bowman Cemetery.
Rothrock refers to Abraham, (pages 6 and 7) and his 2 spouses, Nancy Bretz and Elizabeth Beehler as son and daughters-in-law of Samuel Whiteman (1748), brother and sisters-in-law of Humphrey (1818), and uncle and aunts-in-law of Henry Parker Whiteman (1838). Byron G. Whiteman researched her conclusions further and challenged this. B.G. Whiteman shows that one of Samuel's (1748) sons' name is Abraham Giles Whiteman (1811) whose spouse is Mary Myers (1811). BG W further shows that Rothrock's Abraham on page 6 is actually the brother of Samuel Whiteman (1748) whose spouses are Nancy (Reutz?) Paine and Sarah Elizabeth Beehler. Claudia Kerestes, this compiler, has decided in favor of BGW in this instance and believes he has disproved that Rothrock' family link on page 6.[WHITEMAN_RPoole.FTW]
