bullet  General Notes:

"The first Whiteman families came from England to Dorchester, Mass. in the year of 1603. They removed to Weymouth, in 1641. Other data given me was that the Whitemans came from England on the "True Love" in 1635.
In ancient English and American records the name appears in the various spellings of Wyteman , Weightman, Wytman, Witeman, Witman, Whytman and Whiteman, of which the last three are the most generally used in America today."p.2
Abraham, the First's sons, Daniel, Abraham, Jacob and Samuel, all pioneers, who came west fro m Pennsylvania about 1817 and were among the first settlers of Seneca County, Ohio. p.4 (Rothrock) [WHITEMAN_RPoole.FTW]

It is not known when this Abraham was born or where he came from. On the tax lists of Berks Co., 1779 there is an Abraham Whiteman shown as an Innkeeper. Perhaps this is the same person who was later in Bloomsburg, PA since he had property in town and the deed mentions Whiteman Alley. In the
PA Archives, 3rd series, V.24 on page 558 there is a warantee of land of 50 acres 30 May 1749 in Lancaster Co. for Ab'm Whiteman.

The 1790 census, Northumberland Co. shows Abraham Whiteman, 1 male over
16, 5 males under 16, and 3 females.[Abraham Whiteman Marty.FTW]
