Theobald married Gertrude of Dagsburg Countess of Metz and Dagsburg (Dabo) [12697] [MRIN: 3670], daughter of Albert II Count of Metz and Dagsburg [64199] and Gertrude of Baden Margravine of Baden [64200], in 1205. (Gertrude of Dagsburg Countess of Metz and Dagsburg (Dabo) [12697] died on 30 Mar 1225 and was buried in abbey of Sturzelbronn.)

according to the Vitæ Odiliæ. Their betrothal occurred in September 1205, possibly when she was an infant. On her marriage her husband took over the administration of her inheritance, but he died in early 1220 without siring any children.
