when Edward VI <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/aboutEdward.htm> died Thur 6th Jul 1553, Greenwich Palace, London, age 15, is said to have died in the arms of his friend Sir Henry <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/HenrySidney(Sir).htm> (age 23). Sir Henry <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/HenrySidney(Sir).htm> witnessed his will. Lady Mary Dudley brought the news of Edward VI <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/aboutEdward.htm>'s death to her sister-in-law Lady Jane Grey <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/aboutJaneGrey.htm> on Sun 9th Jul, and took her with her to Syon House <Documents/syon_abbey.htm>, she was proclaimed Queen the following day. Sir Henry <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/HenrySidney(Sir).htm> took little part in it, being still in mourning for his friend Edward VI <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/aboutEdward.htm>. He deserted their cause early (though he sheltered the Dudleys at Penshurst after their fall).

Mary married Sir Henry Sidney Knight [58974] [MRIN: 551616068], son of Sir William Sidney Knight [57782] and Anne Packenham [57783], on 29 Mar 1551 in Penhurst, Kent, England. (Sir Henry Sidney Knight [58974] was born on 20 Jul 1529 in London, Middlesex, England and died on 5 May 1586 in Ludlow, Shropshire, England.)
