Robert Lowes was 28 years in 1870 census. He worked in a sawmill. His wife Sarah was 26. They had three children, Mary 7 born in England, James 2 born in California, and Annie 8 months born in CA.
In 1880 census he was a miner like his father-in-law John B. Johnson who boarded with him. His wife had died in 1979. His children were Mary 17, James 12, Annie 10, Sarah 5, Fred 2, John 1. His daughter
Elizabeth born in 1872 had died in 1877. I don't know where or if Lou and Ethyl existed. These were 2 names that I had been told were siblings.

(Sarah Johnson [390] [LJRN-9XV] was born in 1843 in England, died on 26 Jun 1879 in El Dorado County, CA White Rock and was buried in 1879 in Placerville, CA.)
