(Constance Plantagenet Baron of Despencer [3559] [9HVL-K59] was born about 1374 in Conisborough, Yorkshire, England, died on 28 Nov 1416 in Reading Abbey, Berkshire, England and was buried in Reading Abbey, Berkshire, England.) ![]() Edmund next married Lucia Visconti [40284] [MRIN: 5657], daughter of Bernabň Visconti [28527] and Beatrice Regina della Scala [40283], on 24 Jan 1407. (Lucia Visconti [40284] was born in 1372 in Milan, Italy, died on 14 Apr 1424 and was buried in Augustinian Church, London.)
Negotiations for marriage Lucia opened in 1382 and were aimed at the alliance between Bernabo and Louis II of Anjou , the latter she was betrothed to . However she ended up marrying Edmund Holland, 4th Earl of Kent . The marriage by proxy took place in December 1406 and the dowry provided 70,000 florins, on 24 January 1407 the wedding was celebrated at Southwark. The groom, however, died that same year and Lucia was to live in England for the rest of her life. |
