High Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk 1263-65; fought at Battle of Ev esham 1265, presumably for the King against Simon de Montfort, Earl of Lei cester; was granted house property in London c1265; Justice itinerant c127 8; Steward of the Duchy of Aquitaine c1283. [Burke's Peerage]. His seco nd wife, Devorgilla founded Sweetheart Abbey in memory of her first husban d, John Balliol. They are both buried there. ![]() John married Sybilla de Longchamps [3489] [MRIN: 987] in 1227. (Sybilla de Longchamps [3489] was born in 1202 and died in 1261.) ![]() John next married Devorgilla McDonald [3491] [MRIN: 988], daughter of Alan Mcdonald of Galloway [3492] and Margaret of Huntingdon [3493], after 1269.
