He immigrated on the Hopewell, arriving 1635 in Massachusetts Bay Colony with his parents William Lane and Agnes Farnsworth. George Lane left a will on 16 October 1688 in Hingham, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Plymouth County

The town of Hingham was dubbed "Bare Cove" by the first colonizing English in 1633, but two years later was incorporated as Hingham in 1635.

Hingham town was within Suffolk County from its founding in 1643 until 1793; Norfolk County from 1793 to 1803; and Plymouth County from 1803 to the present
