He [Thomas Darcy] married, shortly before 20 April 1583 (articles dat ed 16 April), Mary, daughter and heir of Sir Thomas KITSON, of Hengrave, S uffolk, by Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Thomas CORNWALLIS. He died s.p.m.s ., 21 February
1639/40, in
London, aged about 74, and was buried at St. Osyth's. At his death the Bar ony of Darcy of Chiche [1551] became extinct. His widow died between 7 M ay and 28 June 1644, and was buried in Trinity Church, Colchester. Comple te Peerage IV:79

Following his father's example Sir Thomas left Hengrave to his widow, Eliz abeth for life in 1602. Margaret, their elder daughter and her husband di ed in the lifetime of Elizabeth Kytson and Hengrave reverted to Mary, wi fe of Thomas, lord Darcy
of Chich.

: This marriage was unhappy one, as the Earl was morose and his unreas onable jealously led to a separation. They had one son and four daughter s; the son died at an early age and fine mural monument was erected to h is memory in the church.

It was on Penelope, the third daughter that her mother, in 1643, set tled Hengrave and her Suffolk property.
