per "Beckoning Hills Revisited"...He and his brother Adolphes came to Canada as very young boys and lived with their uncle, Jim goodenough, in Bobcaygeone,Ontario. Later Joh moved with his uncle's family to Boissevain.
He married Melinda Hill in Boissevain in 1892 and had one daughter, Pearl and three sons Lorne, Newton and Francis. Pearl married and moved to Winnepeg. Lorne was killed during the first world war. Francis was employed by the Town of Boissevain for many years. He and his wife Bessie still reside in Boissevain.
John was the caretaker of many of the churches in Boissevain as well as the bank and the dentist's office. In 1910 he and his son Lorne helped with the construction of the Boissevain town Hall.
From 1913 to 1918 he farmed on farms northeast of Killarney. Then he returned to Boissevain...and took up residence on Broadway Street.
His wife, Melinda, passed away in 1944...John...passed away in 1950.
