Princess of Bavaria and Queen of Saxony.

Amalie was the fourth child of King Maximilian I of Bavaria <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximilian_I_of_Bavaria> and his second wife Karoline of Baden <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karoline_of_Baden>.
She was the twin sister of Elizabeth Louise <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elisabeth_Ludovika_of_Bavaria>, later Queen of Prussia as wife of Frederick William IV of Prussia <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_William_IV_of_Prussia>. Three other sisters married King Frederick Augustus II of Saxony <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Augustus_II_of_Saxony>, Archduke Franz Karl of Austria <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archduke_Franz_Karl_of_Austria> and Maximilian Joseph, Duke in Bavaria <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximilian_Joseph%2C_Duke_in_Bavaria>.
