built huge Leicester House, London, 1630s (demolished early 1700s, no trace remains except for the address Leicester Square - the original Leicester Square is in Penshurst village). Member of Parliament for Wilton in 1614. Succeeded to the earldom, 1626.

Robert married Dorothy Percy Countess Leicester [48142] [MRIN: 551611846], daughter of Henry Percy 9th Earl Northumberland [48286] and Dorothy Devereux Countess Northumberland [48287], in Jan 1614/15. (Dorothy Percy Countess Leicester [48142] was born about 1598, christened on 20 Aug 1598 in Petworth, Sussex, England, died on 19 Aug 1650 and was buried in Penshurst, Kent, England.)
