• Anecdote. 6894 Jacob "Harry" Maybee, son of George and Ellen (Armstrong)
Maybee, was born Sept. 28, 1888 in Isabella Tp, near Rosebush,
MI. He worked in oilfields in California as a young man and
joined the Canadian Army, serving in France and Germany, from
1914-1918 (WWI). After discharge, he worked for the railroad
as a chef on special trains between Canada and the U.S., and
throughout Canada. Harry rejoined the Army as a chef in 1939
and served four years before returning to Canada, where he was
posted to the Canadian Prison Camp, which housed 1500 German
prisoners, at Grand Ligne, PQ (now part of St. Blaise, PQ).
Harry and Lillian moved from Montreal to Grande Ligne in 1944
