• Anecdote. ³¹⁹⁴ By the end of 1885, she was baptized as "Maud Brush", daughter
of Moses Brush, in Sloatsburg, NY. She was raised as the
daughter of Moses Brush
Possibly after Anne White Mabee died in 1885, Daniel, who can
no longer care for her "gives" Maude to her mother's father and
his new wife, who give her to their next door neighbors, Moses
and Emily Brush of Ramapo NY, who have no children. Rather than
a formal adoption (rare in non wealthy families in the 19th
century), they have her baptised as their own.
