He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 29 Nov 1489. He succeeded to the title of 17th Earl of Arundel on 25 Oct 1524. He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) on 25 Jun 1525. In 1536 he took part in the trial of Queen Anne Boleyn . He gained, at the Reformation, a grant of the priory of Michelham, and numerous lands formerly belonging to the Priory of Lewes.
William married Anne Percy Countess Arundel [17147] [MRIN: 8175], daughter of Henry Percy 4th Earl of Northumberland [3180] [LVWW-JPK] and Maud Herbert Countess of Northumberland [3181] [KNW6-1BN], between 15 Feb 1510 and 28 Dec 1510. (Anne Percy Countess Arundel [17147] was born on 27 Jul 1485 and died in 1552.)
