Margaret Douglas also went by the nick-name of 'the Fair Maid of Galloway'.5 From between 1459 and 1460, her married name became Stewart. As a result of her marriage, Margaret Douglas was styled as Countess of Atholl in 1460.5

Beatrix married William Douglas 8th Earl of Douglas [16840] [MRIN: 8018], son of James the Gross Douglas 7th Earl of Douglas [14061] and Beatrix Sinclair [15175], on 24 Jul 1444. (William Douglas 8th Earl of Douglas [16840] was born about 1425 and died on 22 Feb 1451 in Stirling Castle.). The cause of his death was Murdered by the King himself.
Beatrix next married John Stewart 1st Earl of Atholl [29336] [MRIN: 13378], son of Sir James of Lorn Stewart [29251] and Lady Joan Beaufort Queen of Scotland [3543] [L857-9MQ], in 1459. (John Stewart 1st Earl of Atholl [29336] was born about 1440 and died on 15 Sep 1512.)
