William Duncombe baptised 31 March 1839 son of John Duncombe & Sarah Ginn who married 3 October 1831 at Great Barford, Bedfordshire. At the time of the 1841 & 1851 census they were living in Great Barford.
Great Barford Census 1841 Date of census: 6 June 1841 Page 24
In 1841 the family were John 35 Ag. Lab. & wife Sarah 30. Children: Elizabeth 9; Lucy 8; Hannah 7; Ann 5; Martha 4; william 2; Joseph 2months and William 65 Ag. Lab. Agricultural labourer
Great Barford Census 1851 Date of census: 30 March 1851 Page 11
In 1851 John 46 Farm Labourer & wife Sarah 41 Children: Ann 15; William 12; Alice 5; Jane 7; Emma 2; Mary a 5 months.
I would assume the 65 year old William in the 1841 census is probably John's father but no way to be sure. The Bedfordshire family history society does have microfiche copies of all of its parish registers which are available for purchase or they may be able to do the research for you their address is

I found William G b England Wesleyan Methodist 1871 Oxford South Ontario census index. Also found Calvin b US Wesleyan Methodist in 1871 Oxford South. In 1851 Calvin Hill family in Ontario is a Baptist with a dau Fanny age 14 and he is born NY like his wife. In 1881 LDS census Fanny Hill Duncombe is listed as born in Ontario. They are Baptists. Have you seen www.grl.com <http://www.grl.com/>, www.censuslinks.com/index <http://www.censuslinks.com/index>, www.genealogybranches.com/international.html <http://www.genealogybranches.com/international.html> . On the grl site I found Calvin G. Hill marriage in 1885, his second wife. I will subscribe if you want and send for this. Love, Janice

This is great! It does what we wanted and proves what we needed, that his parents were John and Sarah. That is what I wanted. The dates seem a little wrong though. If they were married in Jan 1862 then he was 22 as he had not had his 23 birthday yet. The info says he was 24. Fannie would have been 24 as it says, as she had not had here birthday yet either. I wonder if a scribe made a mistake and gave them the same age.
The immigration date of 1871 bothers me: we know it could not be when he left England We know it could not be when he arrived in Dereham Could it be when he left Canada to come to the USA in 1871? I do not think so as Martha was born in Oct 1875 in Canada. We know that Fred and Julie left Canada for the USA between Dec 1887 and Mar 1889, probably in early 1888. Grandpa said shortly after their marriage.
William G could have come with them. Or Fred and Julie with him. He died in the USA, but that is a long time after 1871.
We know that Annie and Martha came to the USA, but not exactly when. George stayed in Canada and I have no idea what Joseph did he died when he was 22 (1893) and may have been in the USA also.
